In 2013, three friends, Anoop Balakrishnan, Arun Ravi, and Nikhil Dharman, founded Agrima Infotech, an AI-focused startup. Initially developing virtual personal assistants, Agrima later created Psyight, a vision technology that identifies fruits and vegetables without barcodes. Their innovation caught the attention of BigBasket, which acquired the business unit to implement Psyight in its self-checkout stores. Agrima, valued at USD 3.5 million, has its core team joining BigBasket’s Project Bharat, aiming to revolutionize retail through AI-driven technology.
